Ferrero Tipping it off in Tennis

Spaniard and tall man Juan Carlos Ferrero took home a total domination over Gael Monfils in the 2011 U.S. Open today on the fourth day of the tournament. His clearly practiced fist pump shows his excitement for his advancement. Ferrero standing in at a lean 6’0”, ironically nicknamed mosquito, kept up the buzzing in Monfils court to put on quite the show for the crowd. Ferrero made this grand slam in tennis for his career-first to give him a large confidence for his next match. A standing ovation was given to both players during the match because of the intensity and show of heart for the game. The next match for Ferrero plays a fellow tall Spaniard, Marcel Granollers (6’3”). Three inches might not be enough for Granollers to make a victory over Ferrero, but the jury is still out as we approach the match up.

And of course, it wouldn’t be tennis if we didn’t mention Roger Federer who brought his height and heart this year to take a win over Dudi Sela. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, tennis is getting taller.

Be sure to keep up with ESPN’s full coverage of the matches as we approach the championship. Let’s hope for some long shots and tall champions on the court!
