The Shihadeh. A great gift for tall men.
O.K so we’ve been at this shirt business for about two years. Though we officially launched The Longshot Apparel product to our customers in January 2011. As entrepreneurs we work long days and weekends trying to make the world a better place for tall, lean men. One of the most satisfying aspects of our jobs, aside from seeing new shirts from the factory or completing an order, is getting product reviews, tweets and facebook posts from our loyal customers. They are telling us, loud and clear, we have hit the nail on the head with our pattern, fabric, styling and customer service. Thanks to all of you who have written reviews, tweeted and facebooked us. Your thoughts, compliments and insights keep us motivated! A few samples of our reviews below:

Holiday Shirts for Tall Men
The table full of shirts at Costco really gave me pause. What goes into a shirt that’s $16.99?
In thinking about our Longshot Apparel tall shirts, the fine Italian fabric we’re using costs about that per meter. How much would somebody be paid to make this $16.99 shirt? What, a dollar or two? Same cost for fabric and trims? Shipping from China? Profit for the shirt brand? Then Costco itself? Think about this as you shop for the holidays. What represents a good deal in this hard economic time might just be the worst thing for the economy.
Seeing these shirts made me proud of the work we’ve done to have Longshot shirts to be made in the USA. It was bleak at first, but after digging in we’ve found incredible people to partner with in making the best tall shirts around. Dignity and stubbornness can make a difference after all. Looking forward to getting Longshot tall shirts to you soon.
I am always hunting for the perfect holiday gift for the tall man, or should I say “tall men.” My husband is 6’4″ tall and so are our two older sons, and we have a nine year old who just might out grow us all. When the season rolls around I am left scratching my head as to the perfect holiday gift for tall men. Since I am the only woman in the family it’s my duty to keep these guys dressed and looking good, lest they arrive at the holiday symphony concert in an oversized Nike running shirt and shorts that look like culottes. Let’s just say I am on the sartorial hook and buying socks and underwear just doesn’t cut it. This year I have found the perfect holiday gift for the tall man–beautiful shirts from Longshot Apparel. I’m partial to the Blue Lawson myself. Our sixteen year old is going to look dapper in the Van Dyke and my husband, I’ve got the Gaston at the top of his list.

Clothing Tips for Tall & Slender Men
At Longshot Apparel we are out to improve style for men who are Tall & Fit. Our Clothing Tips for Tall & Slender Men read as follows:
- Avoid baggy shirts, or shorts. Oversized shirts will draw attention to the slight stature covered with billowing fabric. Stick to fitted shirts and learn how to layer clothing to give you a little added mass.
- If you have long legs avoid shirts or jackets with waistbands, they can cut you off making you look like daddy long legs. A better choice for long legs is a mid thigh car coat or shirt jacket
- Stay clear of loud colors or prints. Let’s face it; being tall means you get a lot of attention visually. If you are trying to “fit in” the crowd rather than “sticking out” of the crowd consider your color and pattern options. You want to look sophisticated and sharp, not loud and over-sized.
- Leave your gym clothes at the gym. For a lot of really tall, slender men buying clothes is a pain. Tired of digging to find the best fitting options they default to their over-sized gym clothes. While they are appropriate in the gym, these clothes are not much better than pajamas on the street.
- You get more when you pay more. I know this is an old adage but it never goes out of style. When you pay more for quality, fabric and construction your shirt will always wear better. There are no shortcuts when it comes to quality. Fabrics made in Italy are usually the best you can buy. Quality from Europe or the United States is superior to many third world countries. While you may pay more upfront you will save in the end.
- Stand tall, never slouch. If you want to look good in what you’re wearing make sure you wear it with confidence.
Our hope is that you will take these Clothing Tips for Tall & Slender Men and apply them to your own wardrobe. Stay tuned to our blog as we continue to educate the tall, lean guy on what looks best on him.

Shopping for gifts for tall, lean men is a hard job. Clothing gifts for tall men can be a downright crazy making. Several years ago, when I met my husband who stands a lean 6’4” I attributed his mediocre style to a lack of shopping know-how. It wasn’t until I set out to buy him a pair of jeans that I discovered it was next to impossible to find a pair of size 36” x 36” jeans in a store and a jacket that fit his 38” sleeve—forget about it. Clothing gifts for tall men are difficult but they needn’t be. Longshot Apparel has gorgeous men’s shirts that are designed to enhance the tall, lean physique rather than to detract from it. All products are Made in theUSA from the finest Italian fabric. So, relax, buying clothing gifts for tall men just got a little easier. Stand Tall.
Clothing Gifts for Tall Men
Riding the current zeitgeist is the Made in America movement. “It’s sweeping the nation!” to steal a phrase. I have to say I saw it coming (like Al Gore saw the information superhighway) and I love it. Two years ago I swore off buying new apparel for a year. I know, the idea sounds downright scary in retrospect. At the time, however, I wanted to get some distance from the consumer gluttony that spawned our most recent financial crises. I was interested in examining my own consumer frenzy and to learn more about what was behind my rush to buy, buy, buy. My clothing fast ignited a movement from women all over the globe who had a similar interest and eventually what started as a very little idea blossomed into a very popular and well publicized international community blog. Who knew?
What came out of my year of abstinence was a desire to learn more about the products I was buying and to make conscious choices about how to spend my money. In other words I wanted to spend not just with my hard earned cash but also with my values. I found I wanted to move as far away as I could from disposable apparel and instead to discover and learn about companies that had a commitment to quality and lasting design. These realizations lead me to the Made in America movement where I uncovered for myself a vast array of small, super cool businesses (like our very own Longshot Apparel) that are committed to manufacturing beautiful quality product here in the United States.
Every week now I am reading about a new startup company, making apparel, furniture and appliances here in America—it’s like one big snowball effect! This week I stumbled upon Raleigh Denim and last week it was Civilainaire Denim, super cool companies out of North Carolina and Los Angeles respectively. Now this is something to get excited about.
